- Rage Against the Machine ( When DJs play & breakers rock to this ):
Someone recently posted a question - “What’s Your Favorite Hip Hop Joint.. That’s Not A Rap Song?”
Hcaze Officially already had this review cued up and ready to go, for News & Reviews section prior to that actual question( very ironic, but true indeed ) - Posted to Writing section first. Still see below:
When breakers, break, dance, & "rock" to this! Some up rocking might be present. Rock and dance to what? Renegades of Funk. Considering the crossovers with Rock and Hip Hop music, and very few of them that were considered viable in the breaking scene, this track is a for sure Breakers classic. Controversial too, but where does this gem reside? Subjectively, it is simply music- who cares. But a Classic, when? It was released in 1996 by a band called Rage Against the Machine. For “those that don’t be knowin” - the band itself although influenced by Hip Hop, was actually considered Rock music. Zack de la Rocha is heard on vocals and stood up proud against discrimination. Although the band had differences, personal, political & social, which ultimately lead to split ups as well as returns, he in particular had a lot to say on this track and did so using his music. He and the band stood on certain political views held, and promoted much of what & who Hip Hop was started by. Not only that, but also what it meant to its listeners, and the people / movements that came before it. Do the knowledge.
A way to move when a great DJ knows to throw this on, for the breakers. Search & discover the music video too, if you can.
